Contract 2–4 years Mid level P621k - P959k / year Featured

About the role

Join Helix Labs as a UX Designer in Malabo and craft delightful, accessible product experiences for customers across the continent.

Job description

Helix Labs is hiring a UX Designer to join the team in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. We're a growing organisation in our space and the next person in this seat will help us scale how we serve customers across the region.

You'll shape how our customers experience the product, owning everything from early problem framing through to polished, production-ready UI. Expect to spend your week between Figma, customer conversations, and weekly design critique.

This role is a fixed-term contract. You'll partner closely with product managers, engineers, and user researchers and report into the relevant team lead. We move fast, give people real ownership, and keep the bureaucracy low — if that sounds like the kind of environment you do your best work in, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design of new product features end to end — flows, states, prototypes, and final visual polish.
  • Run weekly customer interviews and translate findings into design opportunities the team can act on.
  • Maintain and grow our design system in Figma so engineers can build quickly and consistently.
  • Run design critique with peers and incorporate feedback into your work without ego.
  • Partner with engineering through implementation to keep the bar high once features ship.
  • Champion accessibility and performance as first-class design constraints, not afterthoughts.

What you'll need

  • 2+ years of product design experience with a portfolio of shipped work.
  • Strong fluency with Figma, prototyping, and modern design-system practices.
  • Comfortable framing problems and pitching solutions to stakeholders, not just executing pixels.
  • Empathy for users — you talk to real customers regularly and let that change your designs.
  • Solid understanding of how the web works under the hood; you collaborate well with engineers.

Perks & benefits

  • Annual learning budget you can spend on courses, books, or conferences
  • Wellness budget covering gym membership, therapy, or coaching
  • Stock options or equity grants tied to company performance
  • Generous paid leave plus all public holidays observed in your country
  • Hybrid working — split your week between the office and home
